New Frequency-Domain Phase-Related Properties of MIMO LTI Passive Systems and Robust Controller Synthesis

Abstract New frequency domain phase-related stability properties of LTI MIMO Strictly Passive systems are investigated. A new stability criterion is proposed by combining the small gain theorem and the passivity theorem. Robust controller design based on this new criterion is given and shown to achieve robust stability under passive uncertainty in the same low frequency band in which good performance is also required. This controller can be used to control processes with passive uncertainty of large gain at low frequencies.
