Evaluation of physical and physiological profiles of Iranian male elite soccer players

The objective of this research was to compare some physical and physiological characteristics of Iranian male elite soccer players with other countries. 23 soccer players were randomly chosen from Iran’s national adult soccer team who were attended in the preparatory camp for Asian Cup matches after the Premier League. The data were analyzed by using statistical software, namely "SPSS and Statistical" in two ways of descriptive and inferential at 95% Confidence distance and alpha = 5%. The results showed that, there was a significant difference between Iranian soccer players and other country in term of physical and physiological characteristics such as, height, weight, BMI, body fat percent, agility, speed, flexibility, power, VO2MAX, aerobic and anaerobic power(P <0.05). Thus, it generally seems that Iranian national adult soccer team players in terms of some physical, physiological and mental factors are not at a desirable level as their counterparts in other countries. So in order to succeed in international competitions Iranian players should try to reach the existing standards and overcome their weaknesses and enhance their strengths.
