Novel architectures for long haul DWDM systems

Recent advances in DWDM technologies have significantly increased achievable capacities and distances for optical transmission systems. We discuss a recently deployed DWDM system architecture that provides important customer usability features, and gracefully scales to accommodate short, long, and ultra-long haul distances.
