Small balance-fed antenna system for handset

A small balance-fed NMHDA is proposed, based on the essential design concept for the handset antenna, and its performance, when it is built in the handset unit, is analyzed both theoretically and experimentally. The results show that current distributions on the ground plane can be made very little by using the balanced antenna system for the handset antenna. This implies that the built-in balanced NMHDA may be very effective for avoiding the degradation of the antenna performance due to the operator's hand and/or head. More detailed analyses on the performance of a balance-fed antenna system, such as impedance characteristics, gain, and the body effect in the practical application, are shown at the presentation.
