A New Type of High-Power Wireless Power Transfer with a Superimposed Communication by a Phase-Shifted Synchronous-Rectifier

Recently, CO2 has been regarded as issue for the global warming. Electric Vehicles (EVs) are expected to be a method to solve the environmental issues due to high efficiency driving without CO2 and NOx emission. In this paper, a new communication method from a power receiving unit to a power feeding unit by superimposing signal on transmitting power is proposed. This system is possible to reduce cost and save space as compared with conventional system, because power magnetic is modulated by an active rectifier in the power receiving unit and any additional communication equipment is not necessary. It is revealed that relations of characteristic-impedance, resonant frequency, transmission power and transmission efficiency in series-series resonant power transfer circuit and single-ended push-pull inverter with large gap. Furthermore, design strategy for satisfying the target specifications is described.
