Energy efficient stochastic power scheduling scheme for wireless cellular networks

Continuously growing energy consumption in wireless cellular networks motivates the research towards energy saving approaches. Among previous works, many studies suggest different methods to reduce the transmission power for stationary wireless users. In this paper, we consider a challenging scenario which takes user mobility into account. Based on user mobility pattern, we propose the dynamic cell power selection scheme aiming at minimizing the long-term energy consumption. We apply the finite-state Markov traffic load model to resolve the cell selection scheduling problem. For cell selection to achieve optimal performance, we develop an optimization model by using the stochastic power scheduling control and solve it by applying the linear programming (LP) technique. We conduct the simulations to show the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.
