Signal-to-noise calculations are presented for coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) in a molecular beam. Using high peak power pulsed lasers and a high density molecular beam, S/N for the H 2 Q(1) line is expected to be \sim 10^{4} , with a Doppler width reduction from 1100 to 20 MHz.
