Research on Application of Hairpin-shaped Thermosyphon and Thermal Insulation Composite Embankment in Permafrost Regions

Based on the effectiveness analysis of existing single control measures,a composite control measures with hairpin-shaped thermosyphon and thermal insulation was proposed.The mechanism of composite control measures,structural design of the hairpin-shaped thermosyphon and the composite measures embankment were studied and presented.The engineering monitoring program for the physical test of the composite control engineering measures,the construction process and key points of construction quality control were introduced.Observation data shows that the insulation layer reduces the heat observed by the embankment in warm season due to its high thermal resistance and the hairpin-shaped thermosyphon can cool the embankment with initiative convection.With proper combination of these two factors,the embankment temperature can be effectively reduced during the whole year,which helps to maintain the stability of permafrost embankment.
