Mathematical Modelling: history and future prospects

The panel will begin with statements of three panelists (Stillman, Doerr, Blum) about the history of applications and modelling, especially ICTMA, about views of modelling and the role and competencies of the teacher, and about research results on learning and teaching modelling as well as most urgent needs for future research. After a summary of the panel and first comments by Arleback, there will be a plenary discussion, also with further questions to the panelists. The session will finish with short answers from the three panelists.
