Temporal learning curve of a multidisciplinary team for magnetic resonance imaging/transrectal ultrasonography fusion prostate biopsy

A cross-disciplinary team consisting of radiologists, urologists, and pathologists along with information technology support is required to successfully complete MRI/TRUS fusion biopsy. However, the amount of time and experience needed to master this new technique is not clear. Prior studies have investigated the institutional learning experience following adoption of fusion biopsy [6–8]. In the present study, we evaluated the temporal learning curve of a single multidisciplinary team consisting of one urologist, two radiologists and one pathologist, implementing fusion biopsy with a closed-loop learning system.
