Performance evaluation of prioritized fair scheduling in HSDPA networks under urban situations

This paper presents a new prioritized scheduling called prioritized fair channel-dependent scheduling (PFCDS) in enhanced universal mobile telecommunications system (EUMTS). There are some fair and efficient scheduling algorithms deriving from round-robin (RR) scheduling and C/I scheduling to achieve the trade-off between both the two extreme methods for quality-of-service (QoS). PFCDS scheduling reaches a balance between the aims for effective throughput utilization and distinguishing fairness of all the users. All these algorithms have been implemented in network simulator 2 (ns-2), employing input trace files of signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) via MATLAB. We set up several scenarios to investigate their pros and cons under urban situations, and show the simulation results of PFCDS, compared with other prioritized scheduling algorithms
