AN EVALUATION OF PEACH CULTIVARS AND SELECTIONS FOR RESISTANCE TO Leucostoma cincta

A number of peach cultivars and selections were evaluated in three successive years for resistance to Leucostoma cincta, an important pathogen of the perennial canker complex, by yearly inoculation of 1-yr-old wood and assessment. Significant variation for proximal linear extension of the canker was associated with cultivars over all years, as well as with the years of evaluation and cultivar × year interaction among 21 entries evaluated in all the 3 yr, but no immunity was observed.Key words: Perennial canker
