Mist nets and strychnine syrup are used for bat collecting and vampire destruction in Trinidad. Twelve-meter, 4-shelf, nylon nets, along with poison, collected 127 bats of 19 species, including 58 vampires in 3 nights. Nets set around dwellings with sleeping people caught vampires attempting to enter. Strychnine syrup applied to fresh vampire bat bites on livestock has successfully killed vampires; 12 being poisoned from a calf and cow in one night. Stock solution is 7.2 g strychnine sulphate to 174 ml water and 174 ml sugar syrup.
