A concept for a mobile multi-media communication system

Within the Mobile Multimedia Communication (MMC) project at the Delft University of Technology, five different multi-disciplinary areas of research can be indicated. In each of these areas, results are produced which can be in conflict with each other. In order to come up with a concept for a complete future system, these results have to be combined in a consistent and realistic, quantitative way. This paper presents the outcome of this effort. A qualitative and quantitative description is given of a complete system with a targeted time of operation within six years. As a result, the viability of a consistent and working MMC system around the targeted time (i.e. by 2005) is thereby made clear and possible future problems are indicated.
