Pre-EMI television history

In the 1920s, several inventors had given some thought to the means, based on the use of cathode rays, which would allow an all-electronic television system to be implemented. Pre-eminent among them were V.K. Zworykin and P.T. Farnsworth, both of the USA. Their early schemes were to be much developed and were to be the only viable all-electronic television schemes, of those put forward in the 1920s, which were imple mented in the 1930s .
