This report is the third of a six-volume final report presenting the findings of the research work that was undertaken to develop a framework for managing bridge maintenance, rehabilitation and replacement activities in Indiana. This volume presents the findings of the part of the research work dealing with bridge traffic safety evaluation. A procedure was developed that can be used to determine the traffic safety index of a bridge on the basis of a set of contributing factors related to the bridge, the approach roadway and environmental conditions.
