Iterative aggregation technique for large-scale finite element analysis of mechanical systems

Abstract The iterative aggregation method is presented for solving large-scale problems arising in analyses of structures. In contrast to multi-grid methods the reported approach may be used in standard large comprehensive finite element (FE) software systems. The aggregation model is constructed on the basis of the rigid body motion concept. An excellent performance of the method is shown by numerical examples including the theory of elasticity and frame analysis problems simulating practical cases.
