Dynamic Frequency Reuse Scheme for Wireless Multi-Hop Relay Networks

In this paper, the performance of a multi-hop relay cellular system is evaluated. Simulation results show that with proper relay station (RS) placement, system capacity can be greatly improved. Recognizing that radio resource management mechanism also has important impact on the system performance of multi-hop relay cellular network, we then propose a novel dynamic frequency allocation and reuse mechanism for such kind of networks by taking into account the number of RSs, the RSs' location distribution, the traffic load, and the interference. Analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can enhance the system capacity and spectrum efficiency in comparison with the existing frequency allocation and reuse schemes in fixed relay networks.
