ADVANCED CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR THE ACTIVATED SLUDGE PROCESS

The purpose of this study is the establishment of an optimal blower control system using nitrification as an index. Based on the experimental result obtained at a municipal sewage treatment plant, the adequacy of our model has been confirmed. Using this model, we have made simulations to verify that stabilization of the treated water quality and achievement of energy conservation can be assured by constant nitrification rate control. In order to realize optimal controls with nitrification as an index, we have established a control system by use of an ORP closely related to nitrification, as outlined below.
