Continuous improvement factor, CIF—A new, basic statistic

Abstract Most technologists think of SPC in terms of the traditional charts. However, many times, unique steps must be made to develop a means to effectively simplify the data. One traditional method is the use of CPK. In some cases, though, CPK is inappropriate. CIF (Constant Improvement Factor) is another method—a new method—to simplify data which does not lend itself to CPK analyses.
