Computer-aided plant layout

This paper describes some computer-aided techniques for the solution of the optimum arrangement of layout which have been developed in Czechoslovakia. These methods are suitable only for the solution of some types of layouts, but can be applied both for the designing of industrial plants and civil constructions. The programs were developed in the Research Institute for Building and Architecture in Prague in 1967 and their purpose was to verify the possibilities of practical application and to acquire experience in a field which has seen little investigation so far.
