A Series-connected 12-pulse Rectifier Based on Power Electronic Phase-shifting Transformer

In order to reduce the volume and weight of the phase-shifting transformer, this paper proposes a series-connected 12-pulse rectifier based on power electronic phase-shifting transformer. The proposed power electronic phase-shifting transformer generates two groups of high-frequency voltages with a phase difference of 30°, which is used to feed the two series-connected three-phase diode rectifiers. The conduction modes of the two series-connected three-phase rectifier bridges are determined and the input voltage of the power electronic phase-shifting transformer is analyzed based on the switching function method. An analytical model is built to calculate the input current and the input power factor. Compared with traditional power frequency transformers, simulation and experimental results indicate that the volume and weight of the phase-shifting transformer can be effectively reduced after using the power electronic phase-shifting transformer while ensuring the same input and output quality.
