A new GANN model is presented based on the complementation of advantages of GA and NN. With this model the disadvantages of the existent GANN is eliminated,at the same time the advantages of GA and NN are expanded sufficiently. In this model,the connection weights and thresholds are optimized by using GA and then the precision is increased with using BP. The model is applied to the assessment of expressway and a mixed GANN evaluation model of asphalt pavement performance is presented. Compared with others,the results indicate that the model is scientific,precise,practical and useful.
