ANALYSIS OF IN-SITU MEASUREMENTS ON A FULL-SCALE TEST PAVEMENT

The structural contribution of the basecourse layer should preferable be determined during construction. This paper discusses results obtained on a full-scale test pavement with ten different basecourse materials over a period of more than one year. The equipment used varied from a Clegg hammer to a Falling Weight Deflectometer. It appeared that the development of the stiffness may continue, even after three months. However, the scatter increases appreciably. Furthermore it was observed that the Clegg hammer results don't correlate well with basecourse stiffness. The Dynamic Plate Bearing Test has been found most successful for a quick determination of the basecourse stiffness. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 890992.
