An Analytical Method for Calculating Critical Voltage Sag Clearance Time of Induction Motors

This letter presents an analytical method to determine the maximum symmetrical voltage sag ridethrough time for induction motors. The proposed method is based on the observation that in order to make a motor viable after voltage sag, the motor's electromagnetic torque should be greater than the mechanical torque when the motor terminal voltage is recovered.
