The Building of English Language CALL Classroom Based on Computers and Internet

In traditional teaching model, being passive learners, students have been taught isolated knowledge of grammar that they have very few chances to be really engaged in the learning process. Learning is considered as a straightforward reflection of teacher’s action, so there is little space for the learners to develop their independent thoughts. However, in a CALL classroom, being the center of learning, students can take over some responsibilities for the outcome of the course. All in all, with multimedia information and communication technology, computer-assisted language learning will help to take the central focus away from the teacher as conveyor of knowledge to create purposeful and achievable activities, to choose Websites that align with instructional and learner goals, and to support learners in ways that are at their pace and within their means. The computer provides opportunities for students to be less dependent on a teacher and have more freedom to experiment on their own in natural setting.
