Feature-Based Blood Vessel Structure Rapid Matching and Support Vector Machine-Based Sclera Recognition with Effective Sclera Segmentation

In this chapter, the review of the proposed novel feature-based sclera blood vessel recognition method is given. Firstly, the pre-processing processes, which include the location of pupil, the segmentation of iris, the segmentation of sclera region, and the enhancement of sclera blood vessels, are described. Secondly, two classification methodologies by (1) the sclera vein feature-based matching identifier and (2) the support vector machine (SVM)-based classifier are discussed. Finally, the measurement indices of two proposed sclera blood vessel-based identity identification designs are demonstrated for performance comparisons.
