Performance analysis of a switched reluctance motor drive

The paper deals with performance analysis of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive taking into account saturation in its magnetic circuit. After describing the drive operation, a mathematical model is presented to simulate the transient as well as the steady state behaviour of the SRM using its measured data. The developed computer algorithm is made flexible to analyse the drive performance in all the three modes of operation, namely current controlled mode (torque control), angle controlled mode (power control) and uncontrolled high speed mode (variable power) for one usually employed converter. The control parameters are also identified for a 7.5 kW, 12/8 pole SRM drive
