Bioremediation demonstrated at hazardous waste site

The author reviews the tests done to demonstra te the use of biodegradation and bioremediation technology to clean up hazardous sludge at French Ltd., a 7.3 acre lagoon near Houston. Biodegradation is a process where naturally occurring microorganisms are stimulated into consuming organic pollutants. Results to date indicate that the technology could offer an alternative to offsite processing plants in delaying with the cleanup of hazardous waste sites.
