Online coordinated control of adaptive-network-based fuzzy power system stabilizers and HVDC modulation controller

An approach for coordinated control of adaptive network-based fuzzy power system stabilizers and HVDC modulation controller is presented in this paper. Their parameters are tuning online by a back-propagation method to minimize a cost function. The object of the cost function is to eliminate the differences in speed between every two generators so that the controllers can track power angle changing trends and provide enough damping torque to power system oscillations. Simulation results show that the coordinated control measure substantially improves system dynamic performance and add good damping to the inter-area oscillations.
