Breeding of Pingtian No.6,a Thick-skinned Melon Cultivar with High Quality, Yield and Disease Resistance

The thick-skinned melon cultivar Pingtian No.6 was bred by Pingdingshan Academy of Agricultural Sciences through conventional breeding methods in 2003.Its average yield was about 36 510 kg/hm2,and its single fruit weight was 1.46 kg,with the commodity rate of 95.1% and the stress resistance level of the fifth grade.The hybrid cultivar passed the evaluation of National Watermelon and Melon Variety Appraisal Committee in 2010,and the serial number was 2010006.
