A Voltage Control Strategy for Low Voltage Distribution System of Smart Grid

For some less developed areas, the voltage at the end node often deviates from the normal operating voltage because of the long lines between the first and the end node and the constantly increase of the power loads. Reactive power compensation is widely used to solve low voltage issues. This paper proposes a voltage control strategy based on a new voltage sensitivity matrix which takes a capacitor’s actual reactive power into account. IEEE 33 bus radial distribution system (RDS) is considered to prove the strategy’s validity. And the reasonability of the proposed strategy is analysed by comparing with regarding capacitor as constant reactive power source. A system implementation scheme is also given.
