Traceability and on-site calibration of the NRC-MSS depolarization current measurements

This paper describes the on-site calibration method of the NRC-MSS on-site depolarization current measurements, developed for condition assessment of medium voltage underground XLPE cables in the electric power distribution network. In this paper, a diagnostic-based and traceable calibration method that is more pertained to the health index of the cable-under-test and faster to conduct on-site is proposed. Preliminary measurements show an accuracy of better than 1% can be obtained, which is acceptable for such an application.
