Effect of anionic salts on some blood and urine minerals, acid-base balance and udder oedema of dry pregnant cows

Kokeen tarkoituksena oli selvittaa anionisten suolojenvaikutuksia ummessa olevien lehmien veren ja virtsan kivennaisaineenvaihduntaan, happo-emastasapainoon seka erityisesti utarepohoon. Kationi-anioni -tasapaino laskettiin [(Na + + K + ) -(Cl - + S 2- )] mEq/kg kuiva-ainetta (ka), ja se oli joko +254 tai -41 mEq/kg ka. Lehmat saivat sailorehua 5,2 kg ka, heinaa 0,9 kg ka ja taysrehua 2,7 kg ka nel-ja viikkoa ennen odotettua poikimista poikimispaivaan saakka. Veri- ja virtsanaytteet otettiin 4, 3, 2 ja 1 viikkoa ennen odotettua poikimista seka poikimispaivana, 1 vrk ja 1 viikko poikimisen jalkeen. Utare-poho mitattiin ja arvioitiin silmamaaraisesti. Anioniset suolat alensivat virtsan pH:ta, lisasivat kalsiumin erittymista virtsaan ja muuttivat veren happo- emastasapainoa. Veren ionisoitunut kalsiumpitoisuus ja plasman kalsiumpitoisuus pysyivat anionisia suoloja saaneilla lehmilla poikimisen aikaan vakaampina kuin lehmilla, jotka eivat olleet saaneet anionisia suoloja. Anionisten suolojen syottaminen (-40 mEq/kg ka) ennen poikimista ei aiheuttanut lehmille utarepohoa.
