Higher order statistics of the output SNR of hybrid selection/maximal-ratio combining

We use a virtual branch technique to derive higher order statistics of the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of hybrid selection/maximal-ratio combining (H-S/MRC) in a multipath fading environment. In particular, the cumulants, central moments, skewness and kurtosis are derived. We consider the case of independent Rayleigh fading with equal receive SNR averaged over the fading on each diversity branch.
