With the increasing demand in services and the growth of traffic flows in telecommunication networks, optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) has become a widely studied multiplexing technique. Developing the technology to make OCDMA a viable multiplexing scheme for mesh networks could provide the increased flexibility and scalability needed for MANs and LANs. In this paper, the authors proposed a router architecture that provides a flexible all-optical method in creating reconfigurable paths, reducing switching delays and node complexity.
