Synthesis and Chiroptical Properties of Enantiomerically Pure Bis- and Trisadducts of C60 with an Inherent Chiral Addition Pattern

Pronounced Cotton effects are observed in the CD spectra of diastereomeric C60 adducts like 1, which are formed as a pair of enantiomers from the inherently chiral C3-symmetrical addition. The magnitude of the Cotton effects depends heavily on the extent of chiral distortion of the π-electron system within the fullerene cage.
