The possibilities to improve local electrical power grid: Case of TUT campus

This paper presents the modelling of middle voltage electrical grid with the help of DigSILENT Power Factory software and simulation results. Based on the real data of Tallinn University of Technology campus, the research investigates the economic impact of system elements (cables and transformers) as well as the influence of load profile, such as amount of active, reactive power, power factor, unbalanced loads on system power losses. The aim of the research is to find possibilities to reduce operation costs of existing grid without huge investments.
