Cerebral Vascular Diseases: Eighth Conference.

This volume is essentially the transcript of the Eighth Princeton Conference on Cerebral Vascular Disease held in January 1972. Recently, these conferences have been held biannually in an attempt to update the information available in the area of cerebral vascular disease. The participants at this conference have been and were some of the most prominent clinicians and researchers in the field. As in previous volumes, the formal reports are followed by what appear to be direct transcripts of discussions. This adds enormously to the usefulness of the material presented. The discussions are the forum in which controversies and discrepancies are dealt with. A potpourri of subjects is covered, including an evaluation of extracranial arterial surgery in the treatment of stroke, the preliminary results of a randomized treatment program for intracranial aneurysm, a review of the mechanism and potential role of the platelet in symptomatic vascular disease, the pathology and physiology
