OTN switching for improved energy and spectral efficiency in WDM MLR networks

The application of OTN switching on top of a WDM layer is evaluated in terms of energy and spectral efficiency (SE). Significant improvements in energy-efficiency-per-GHz and SE are demonstrated with respect to conventional WDM architectures.
