192. At the beginnings of most chapters and sections of chapters, the authors motivate the reader by explaining verbally what they intend to present in the chapter or section. However, some chapters, e.g., 8 and 10 (written by the second author), begin abruptly with derivations. Because the book is intended for a wide spectrum of readers, it would be helpful if in the Introduction and Chapters 1, 6, and 7 the authors elaborated more upon the distinction between bilateral and unilateral contact and the associated equality and inequality problems. This book should be very useful to anyone interested in using boundary integral techniques for the solution of elastic contact of problems. The authors point out that the traditional trial and error methods used for unilateral contact problems "... can lead to erroneous results "Thus, more than half of this book is devoted to discussion of "... the correct formulation of the inequality problem as a multivalued..." boundary integral equation.
