Machine and load modeling in large scale power industries

A highly versatile method, known as the plug-in modeling technique (PMT), suitable for modeling any standard power system component is introduced. Component modules can be easily 'plugged' in to form a small perturbation state space model of the entire system irrespective of the complexity of the system. Any locally available variables may then be selected as control signals. The advantages of PMT over conventional models are discussed and a case study to illustrate the importance of accurate load and machine modeling is presented.
