New terrestrial Gastropoda (Mollusca) from Seychelles

Thorough surveys of the terrestrial and freshwater mollusc fauna of the Seychelles islands have located all previously recorded species and a number of undescribed taxa. These are described here: Moominia willii (Pomatiopsidae), Dupontia levensonia (Helicariondiae), Stylodonta unidentata sebertae, S. u. praslina and S. u. parva (Acavidae), Pachnodus ladiguensis and P. curiosus (Cerastidae). Moominia willii is the first Pomatiopsidae from the western Indian Ocean region and is suggested to represent a Gondwana relict. The species is recorded from the axils of Pandanus hornei trees in mist forest. The two Pachnodus species are extinct and represented only by subfossil specimens.
