State-Space Interpolation for a Gain-Scheduled Autopilot

A procedure for interpolating state-space, linear time-invariant controllers for the synthesis of gain-scheduled controllers is introduced.The interpolationmethod is based on state-space Youla parameterizationand generates a gain-scheduled controller that is locally stabilizing at every operating point of a nonlinear plant. The interpolation methodalso provides guidanceon the selection of operating pointsat which linear time-invariantcontrollers should be designed. A gain-scheduled autopilot is designed to illustrate the interpolation method.
