Anomalous venous drainage of the right lung to the inferior vena cava: the "scimitar" syndrome.

A case of anomalous pulmonary venous drainage from the right lung to the inferior vena cava was successfully managed by implanting the anomalous vein directly into the left atrium. The clinical features of the syndrome, the investigative studies, the technique of operative management and the advantages of direct implantation of the anomalous vein are discussed
