Soliton transmission at 10 Gbit/s with a 70 km amplifier span over one million kilometres

Soliton transmission has been achieved in a recirculating loop at 10 Gbit/s over more than one million kilometres with a 70 km spacing between adjacent optical amplifiers. This experimental result makes use of inline synchronous modulation and shows the potential advantages of this type of soliton control.
