Transmission of 42.8-Gb/s polarization multiplexed RZ-QPSK DWDM signals over 3900 km with 12.5-GHz channel spacing and coherent detection

We have experimentally demonstrated 42.8Gb/s DWDM transmission over 3900km SMF-28 with 12.5-GHz channel spacing and coherent detection. Eight polarization-multiplexed-RZ-QPSK signals have been successfully transmitted over 3000 and 3900-km SMF-28 with BER< 8×10<sup>-4</sup> and 2×10<sup>-3</sup>, repetitively.
