Optimised restraint systems for low mass vehicles

Mathematical modeling has been used to find optimal combinations of the properties of the different restraint system components (e.g. belt system, airbag, set, steering wheel and column). A test rig that allows for an implementation of the driver side car interior has been built, and various sled tests have been performed. The results of the tests as well as comparison with the computer model are presented. The results clearly indicate the feasibility of the procedure, in that the envisaged protection criteria could be met. Language: en
