Increasing the Efficiency of the Probing Signals Correlation Processing of an Ultrasonic Liquid Flowmeter

This article discusses the use of correlation signal processing as a special case of digital processing of ultrasonic probing signals by the example of an ultrasonic liquid flowmeter. Some important features that should be taken into account when choosing a signals samples sequence for the subsequent calculation of the correlation function are noted. In fact, we are talking about the limitations of this method, the requirements and conditions for obtaining correct results of the correlation function. In this regard, an algorithm is proposed for the error reducing in determining the flow rate by appropriately selecting the time interval ("window") for analyzed received signals and actually truncating the samples sequences of sampled (digitized) signals.
