Building Metainformatical Bridges

In this paper, we first consider Engelbart’s notion of “A”, “B” and “C” level work, and a broadening of the orginal intent of these terms. We use this new broader definition to characterize the types of improvement processes that computer scientists and informaticists pursue. This allows us to abstract much of informatics work into broad categories, which can lead us to a way of sharing “best practices” among several different fields — even between fields that may appear unrelated.
